a little backstory about me

I'm not sure if there are too many other copywriters out there who went from writing South Park promos to writing catalog copy about dog beds. But that's me, it's true, and it was all by choice.

I kicked off my television career when I got hired as a production assistant in the On-Air Creative department at Comedy Central in New York City. It was a dream job for a twenty-three-year-old kid from Westchester, New York, whose production work at the time was limited to running a film projector on the set of a budget music-video shoot in Brooklyn and waving stage lights around at a music store to create a "cool" background while the the manager was interviewed about Fender guitars. Needless to say, I had finally landed.

Over the ensuing 12 years, I worked my way up to Senior Writer-Producer. During that time I had the opportunity to work with folks like Jon Stewart, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, The Daily Show correspondents, talented actors, brilliant comedians, voiceover artists, and a slew of insanely skilled production and post-production professionals, who always made sure my crazy ideas came to life and looked great on the screen.

In 2007, I decided that New York City was just too small for a guy like me, so I headed to Vermont, where things are a little more spread out, to work for The Orvis Company as their head writer for the Dog Book catalog. From there, it was on to Gift & Home categories, Men's, and finally to Senior Digital Copywriter for multi-category marketing emails and website pages.

Throughout that time, I never lost my love for humorous copy and luckily had the opportunity to work on various projects at Orvis that allowed my personality to shine through.

Now as a freelancer, I look forward to lending my talents to your project no matter what it may be: print, video, web ... the sky's the limit.

TLDR: I've written and directed promo campaigns for cable-network series and specials. I've created brand-right consumer-direct copy for adventure apparel, outdoor products, dog accessories, fly-fishing gear, specialty gifts, and more. I've worked on thousands of promotional emails and web campaigns, written radio spots, video scripts, and posted on blogs. And I've drafted hundreds of headlines, taglines, subject lines, and all the other lines in between. If I haven't yet had the pleasure of working with you, please reach out and let's get started!
